Foot - Smart Boards: Benefits and How To

I took Educational Technology 3 years ago and we only used the Smart Board once, so I'm a little bit hazy on the how to of the Smart Board. I thought I might blog about it and perhaps help others while I help myself.

Here is a study giving an introduction about Smart Boards in education, how to engage students with a Smart Board, how to use a Smart Board for the benefits of students with special needs and a teacher preparation guide.

Here is a YouTube tutorial on how to use a Smart Board:

And here is an article giving the pros and cons of Smart Boards.

Even if this blog doesn't help now, it may be useful to safe the links and use them for future reference. Hope it helps!

  1. I think this is a really important topic. In my educational technology class we didn't spend that much time talking about smart boards and I think it's important for teachers to be familiar with technology in the classroom. I thought your links were very informative for me as I continue to work on my own skills regarding technology.

  2. I took my educational technology course online, so I did not get to experiment or talk about them at all. I did, however, have them in my high school, so I am familiar with them. The students were not allowed to use them much, but we got to learn along with the teacher how to work them. If the teacher was having trouble with them, most of the time a student could figure out the problem. I was really surprised at how many schools still use chalkboards. I don't think I had seen a chalkboard since middle school.

  3. This is very helpful. I do not really know how to use them to their full potential either, so thank you for posting this.

  4. I only used a smartboard once in high school, and that was in math class. I think it is an important piece of technology that if used correctly could really benefit students and how they learn, but I think most teachers just don't know how to properly use it, so this blog definitely helps us new teachers.
